Miskin Manor Wedding Photographer Cardiff | Sarah and Dan 2018

Tell us a little bit about you two as a couple.

Met in school, best friends for 10 years and a couple for 5. Now living together with their pet dog Lola.

How did the proposal happen?

After Sarah had bought Daniel a trip to New York in April 2017, he knew this was his opportunity. After nervously hiding the ring in his coat pocket and managing to get through the security of the Empire State Building unscathed, they reached the top floor with the magnificent views of New York’s skyline. Dan asked a couple to take a photo of them and when Sarah turned round dan was down on one knee asking Sarah to marry him.

How did you go about choosing your venue/s?

Through chance, we saw a wedding fayre and thought we’d call in. The venue’s magnificent character and it’s breathtaking grounds meant we booked our wedding on the spot for 7months later.

What was the general style and vibe of your wedding?

We used the proposal as inspiration for our theme, vintage New York. Each table was named with our favourite New York attractions. We loved the bird cages with the pastel colour flowers adding the vintage touch. We also loved our LOVE ladder used to remember loved ones who couldn’t be there.

Talk us through your wedding day outfits.

It didn’t take long to fall in love with the perfect outfits. Sarah found her dress in the first bridal shop she went in. Daniel tried his first suit on and didn’t need to look any further. Overall it was a stress free and enjoyable experience for us both.

What did you choose to have as your wedding entertainment?

The chief bridesmaid and best man joined us for a taster evening at the manor. Meeting the ever-accommodating chef and sampling the best choices of food we narrowed it down to a few dishes. The starters were a choice between butternut squash soup and fish cake. The main course was a turkey dinner. As we couldn’t decide on a dessert, the chef kindly gave us a taster of our 3 favourites all on one plate – profiteroles, cheesecake and brandy snap biscuit. For the evening meal, we had the Hog Roast. Everyone commented on our beautiful wedding cake, which was designed by Beverley Thomas – Daniels Auntie.

What did you choose to have as your wedding entertainment?

For the ceremony and drinks reception, we had a fantastic harpist called Tomi turner. For the evening we had Cardiff wedding dj for the disco and props n pics provided us with a photo booth giving the guests hours of fun.

Tell us about your floral arrangements.

We really wanted to stick with a vintage theme so used Francis floral designs. Our flowers incorporated different shades of pinks and purples. They complimented the bridesmaids dresses perfectly. The bride and bridesmaids had beautiful bouquets. The groom and groomsmen had light pink roses for their button holes. There were stuffed bird cages that decorated both the aisle in the ceremony and the dinner tables for the wedding breakfast. Everyone commented on how beautiful the flowers were.

Tell us a little bit about your photographer and/or videographer.

When looking around for photographers/videographers it was your wedding videos that first caught our eye. We couldn’t stop watching them! We loved how natural the photos were and the way you could capture the stunning venues for the couples. The guests felt completely comfortable. It’s so lovely to see how happy everyone is in the photos. You can clearly see everyone enjoyed the day. The whole experience couldn’t have gone any better.

Any particularly funny stories from the day?

Without naming names (although I think guests will know who they are) *Due to such beautiful weather, it wasn’t the easiest job trying to put the ring on Sarah’s finger. *The photobook of selfies from the booth will definitely bring a smile on our faces when it’s a rainy day. *After the grooms mum dropped a glass on her foot, there was a moment of panic in the photographer’s eyes when the DJ announced first dance and the camera equipment wasn’t set up. *After our 3-course meal, one guest gave up on wearing tight slimming pants and had to borrow some normal knickers for the rest of the evening. *When the best man goes to pay the bill the next morning to realise he ordered 10 shots of tequila – priceless.

What were your favourite moments of the day?

Everything was so beautiful and it’s hard to pinpoint individual moments. Daniel loved the use of the grounds , sharing special moments as a couple and with family and friends at various parts of the manor. Sarah loved Listening to speeches and hearing all the lovely things people had to say about us. The whole day was incredible.

Do you have any words of wisdom for future brides and grooms to be?

We loved doing it within 7 months. The speed at which everything came together meant we could enjoy the build-up without feeling like it was too far away. Also Our honeymoon is 6 weeks after our wedding day so it doesn’t feel like it’s completely over after one day.
